Theatre Nurse Team Leader

About the Role

Take the next step in your career with this brand-new leadership opportunity. You'll provide hands-on guidance across the team, support clinical decision-making, and be the key point of contact during each shift.

Please note : this role is not open to new graduates or international nurses.

This is a permanent, full-time position based on weekday afternoon shifts (12 : 30pm-9 : 00pm, Monday to Friday).

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations during afternoon and evening hours
• Coordinate team workflows and allocate resources effectively
• Be a visible presence on the floor, supporting both staff and specialists
• Maintain smooth communication with key contacts including wards, couriers, reception, cleaning services, pathology, blood bank and more
• Contribute to planning and preparation for the following day's activity

Skills & Experience

• Solid background working as a Theatre RN in a New Zealand hospital, with scrub experience across a range of procedures
• Previous exposure to supervising teams or coordinating theatre services
• Confident in delegation, quick thinking, and sound decision-making
• Professional, positive, and resilient under pressure
• Skilled at building strong working relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and wider theatre teams
• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
