Berry Fruit Supervisor / Assistant Grower – NelsonTake your horticulture career to the next level in beautiful Nelson.As Berry Fruit Supervisor, you will work closely with the Berry Fruit Grower Manager and Assistant Grower to oversee daily hydroponic berry crop operations.

You'll monitor plant health, manage irrigation, and tackle pest and disease issues promptly.

Motivating your team to work efficiently and maintain exceptional quality standards is a key focus, alongside supporting their ongoing development through training, safety leadership, and feedback.

Your contribution will help drive plant performance, crop quality, and yield to the highest levels.

Key responsibilities

Support berry crop planning, growing, and harvesting within hydroponic tunnel house systems

Monitor and respond swiftly to pests, diseases, and irrigation needs

Inspire and supervise staff to be quality-driven and efficient in their work

Maintain accurate records and reporting on plant health, EC, pH, and moisture levels

Lead training sessions, toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and SOPs

Support equipment checks, fertiliser mixing, and maintain site hygiene

Qualifications

Has proven horticultural experience, ideally in berry fruit or protected cropping

Understands hydroponic systems and crop health monitoring

Demonstrates strong leadership with a talent for motivating and managing teams

Is confident using Microsoft Office and basic record keeping tools

Takes a practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills

Works well independently but thrives as part of a supportive team
