About the role :
Reporting to the Head of Safety, this pivotal role provides expert leadership across all safety and environmental matters, championing our commitment to zero harm and minimising environmental impact.
You'll take ownership of proactively managing safety risks and play a key role in delivering strategic initiatives that enhance performance across our safety and environmental programmes.
Based at Highbrook, East Tamaki, the role covers our two Auckland sites and also provides support to the Industrial Teams in Hamilton and Christchurch, Bradnam's Windows & Doors network in Rotorua and Christchurch supporting approximately 250 employees across both head office and manufacturing environments.
Key responsibilities will include :
Provide expert advice and leadership on safety and environmental matters to support our zero-harm vision and sustainability goals.
Drive the implementation of the Altus Safety & Environmental Strategic Plan across multiple sites.
Collaborate with branch managers to develop and deliver site-specific safety improvement plans.
Monitor and report on safety and environmental performance, compliance, risks, and incidents.
Lead external audit coordination and ensure successful outcomes (e.g. ISO, AEP, Compliance & Assurance).
Support the development and continuous improvement of safety systems, processes, and procedures.
Facilitate effective Safety & Environment Committee engagement across all sites.
Investigate incidents using ICAM methodology and ensure thorough follow-through.
Provide guidance on regulatory and contractual compliance and liaise with relevant agencies.
Contribute to achieving and maintaining certifications including ISO
About you :

You'll also bring :
5+ years' experience in a Safety and Environmental Advisor role within an operational environment.
Proven expertise in leading ICAM investigations through to resolution.
Solid knowledge of ISO certification standards including ISO
Strong understanding of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
A creative and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to think outside the box.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
