About The Role

A well-established and reputable business is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join their team.

This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring compliance with New Zealand employment and tax regulations, and supporting internal teams with payroll-related reporting and queries.

Key Responsibilities

Process weekly payroll accurately and on time

Ensure compliance with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, and other statutory deductions

Maintain payroll records, leave balances, and resolve employee payroll queries

Liaise with external agencies including IRD, ACC, and the Ministry of Justice

Monitor employee absences and ensure alignment with company policies

Interpret and apply employment legislation (e.g. Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act)

Support employment agreement management and ensure compliance

Oversee attendance tracking systems and extract relevant data

Collaborate with internal teams to provide payroll-related insights and reporting

Assist with office resource management and company functions as needed

What We're Looking For

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

Minimum 4 years' experience in a payroll-focused role

Strong understanding of NZ payroll legislation and compliance

Proficiency in Xero or similar payroll / accounting software

Excellent attention to detail and time management

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

A proactive, professional, and positive approach to change
