About the Role
Sushi Ball House is looking for an experienced Cook to join our team at our Ilam location in Christchurch. This is a full-time, permanent position suited for someone with proven experience in preparing and cooking Japanese cuisine.
Key Responsibilities :
- Check ingredients and raw materials to ensure they meet quality and freshness standards
- Operate and monitor cooking equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, and rice cookers
- Prepare and cook a variety of Japanese dishes, including hot and cold menu items
- Taste and adjust seasonings during the cooking process to maintain flavour consistency
- Plate meals in an appealing and accurate manner, adding sauces, garnishes, and side accompaniments as required
- Follow food safety practices, including proper storage of ingredients in chilled or heated environments
- Prepare meals to accommodate customer dietary needs or allergy requirements when requested
- Assist in planning and updating menus, estimating ingredient quantities needed for service
- May be involved in training or mentoring junior kitchen staff and apprentices in Japanese cooking techniques
Requirements :
To be considered for this role, you must have :
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, and / or A relevant Level 4 qualification or higher in cookeryProficiency in Japanese cooking, including preparation of sauces, use of traditional cooking methods, and operation of specialised cooking equipmentHow to Apply :
