About the Role

JB Foods Limited, operating a popular Indian restaurant in Christchurch, is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our team. This is a full-time role requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness.

Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.

Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes.

Season and adjust flavors during cooking.

Portion food, plate dishes, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes.

Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities.

Prepare meals for customers with special dietary requirements.

Plan menus and estimate food requirements (as needed).

Train and guide other kitchen staff and apprentices.

Requirements

NZ Register Level 4 or higher relevant qualification OR at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

Proven ability in Indian cuisine preferred.

Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Team player with good communication skills.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
