We are seeking a detail-driven, collaborative, and solutions-focused professional to join our team as Survey and Technology lead.
Based in Christchurch, leading our surveying teams throughout the South Island, this key leadership position is perfect for somebody passionate about geospatial excellence, quality outcomes, and developing high-performing, inclusive teams.
You will play a critical role in supporting major projects and ensuring the delivery of accurate, reliable survey data to drive successful project and construction outcomes.
Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of survey operations, including topographical, construction, and as-built surveys on a variety of infrastructure and civil projects.
Lead, motivate, and support a team of surveyors and technicians, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
Plan daily activities, allocate resources, and monitor progress to deliver surveying services on schedule and to the highest standards.
Ensure compliance with New Zealand's health, safety, and environmental standards at all times, championing a zero-harm environment.
Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding survey requirements, methodologies, and progress.
Introduce and review innovative surveying technology and methodologies, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Maintain accurate records and deliver regular project documentation, reports, and updates as required.
Qualifications
Extensive experience managing or leading survey teams in civil infrastructure, construction, or similar environments.
Strong technical expertise in surveying equipment, data capture, and geomatics, with a proven ability to deliver reliable, accurate results.
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, with the ability to support and develop diverse teams.
Strong organisational abilities, with proficiency in resource planning, project documentation, and the use of modern survey software and digital management tools.
Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements relevant to survey activities in the New Zealand context.
Tertiary qualification in surveying, geospatial science, or a related field (NZ-recognised preferred).
Current and full New Zealand driver's licence.
Legal right to work in New Zealand.
