OverviewWe have an opportunity for a Senior Compliance Officer to join our team.
You will work as part of a connected team to deliver effective regulatory management through monitoring the compliance of transport service licence holders and drivers of heavy vehicles and passenger services.Responsibilities include : strive to improve safety outcomes on our roads, continue to grow and develop your compliance skills and experience, and a permanent opportunity based in Hamilton.ResponsibilitiesUndertaking proactive assessments of licensed commercial transport operatorsApplying relevant recognised risk assessment practices to investigation and auditing processDeveloping and managing effective relationships with assigned transport service licence holders and relevant key stakeholdersTravel is a key part of this role and you will be regularly engaging with operators in the Central North Island operating area as and when required.

To be successful in this role, you will bring : Experience in systems-based thinking and analysisExperience in a regulatory, compliance and / or enforcement environmentDetailed understanding and experience of regulatory principles and practicesExperience in assessment (audit) planning, delivery and reportingStrong investigative, risk assurance or audit experienceThe ability to build relationships and appreciate different points of viewDemonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to learn an understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga as well as to work towards fluency in Te Reo Maori.
You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.QualificationsTertiary qualification or relevant experience in a regulatory compliance roleNew Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Core Knowledge) or equivalent desirableAbout usThe Safer Commercial Transport team is responsible for regulating commercial transport operators : from heavy vehicles to small passenger services.
We do this by monitoring our sector through audits, reviews and investigations and working with industry to drive best practice.
