Job DescriptionThe opportunity : As one of our Infrastructure Stakeholder Advisors, you'll get a unique opportunity to work collaboratively between the community and Council.

You will be joining a team with a community focused mindset who are focused on providing improved experiences and outcomes for people.

This role is all about building community trust and confidence in Council's infrastructure projects.

It is a varied and busy role which supports the Infrastructure and Assets Group in its project design and delivery through proactive, constructive and timely engagement with the community, our partners, and internal teams within Council.

Think of this role as the conduit between Council project teams and the community.

It's vital in establishing a community presence for Council on projects and ensuring there is two-way communication throughout the lifecycle of a project.

You will build relationships with the community and ensure that key project information is relevant, informative and reaches the right people.

You will also be responsible for bringing key issues raised by the community to the attention of project teams and working with them to resolve those issues.

The successful candidate for the role will need to support renewal and upgrade projects within our transport and waters programmes.

A combination of experience, knowledge and passion in the transport or waters space will set you up for success in this role.

What does a day in this job look like?

Supporting the identification of risks and opportunities during the planning stages of programmes and projects.

Providing advice and insights to support the Communications Team on plans, events, media releases, and city-wide communication updates.

Leading the execution of targeted community engagement initiatives such as letter drops, door knocking, workshops and drop-in sessions.

Analysing community feedback, bringing key feedback to the attention of project teams and working with them to resolve challenges.

Managing complaints and addressing difficult, complex, and politically sensitive community issues.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field e.g. management, public relations, communications.

Experience with stakeholder, complaint and change management.

A confident communicator with strong people skills.

A gift for building rapport and trust quickly.

A talent for bringing people on the journey with you.

The ability to remain calm under pressure.

Exceptional prioritisation and organisational skills.

Good judgement, decisiveness and ability to take initiative.

Familiar with construction activity and traffic management.
