About the Project

The Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, while increasing transport choices for a growing population. The project is being delivered in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, and Horowhenua District Council.

This is a transformative infrastructure project being delivered using a two-alliance model. Our shared project principles include treading lightly on the whenua, building strong partnerships, and delivering an enduring legacy. We’re looking for great people to join us on this unique journey.

About the Role

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of complex civil and structural works within the Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) South Alliance.

This role is responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating, and overseeing execution of civil and structural works, including bridge construction, precast installation, piling, ground improvement, and associated infrastructure. You will work closely with senior engineers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

The Project Engineer supports the alliance values of partnership, transparency, and innovation, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing project environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing construction plans and work programs for civil and structural activities
• Review design documentation, shop drawings, and construction methodologies
• Coordinate with senior engineers, client representatives, and designers to resolve technical issues
• Monitor progress and support the team in achieving programme milestones
• Support inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance and traceability
• Lead toolbox talks and contribute to risk assessment workshops
• Provide technical guidance to site teams and subcontractors
• Promote an environment of connectedness, applying a hauora (whole of person) approach
