About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Gardener / Handy Person for our stunning Merivale Village located in Christchurch.

This is a physical role keeping our village gardens flourishing and beautiful for our residents to enjoy and community areas attractive and vibrant!

This Gardener role is working 24 hrs per week over 3 weekdays, from 8.00am to 4.30pm — but we are flexible as to which days suit you.

In the New Year these hours will increase to 34 hrs per week with added Handy Person responsibilities as our new amenities building and pool open, so flexibility is essential.

As an experienced gardener, some of the responsibilities you will oversee include :

Establishing new planting as required to maintain standard of gardens (plants, shrubs, trees etc.), making sure the right plants are put in the right area for the village to maintain aesthetics, seasonal changes and future management.

Utilising the garden maintenance feedback and maintain communication with the village team and residents around planned works.

Actioning planned maintenance programs

Maintenance of gardening equipment and ensuring it is used as per instructions and staff are trained in appropriate use of equipment.

Undertake landscaping and grounds work.

About you

This is a physical role where you are part of a passionate team keeping our village gardens flourishing and community areas vibrant.

You'll be confident in your gardening abilities and able to communicate with a range of people.

Proven experience as a Gardener or Landscaper and have a passion for gardening and ground maintenance

Thorough knowledge of gardening and landscaping methods

Hold and maintain a clean and valid New Zealand driver's license.

You'll be fit as you'll undertake physical work and need to operate garden machinery.

Have a "Can do and will do" attitude who can work well in a team or with minimal supervision

Ability to plan and communicate with a range of stakeholders including the Village Management and residents
