Opportunity to build competency in farm management on this unique working farm in the urban oasis of Cornwall Park.
Under the direction of our Farm Manager, you will work in animal husbandry, pasture and livestock management.
Some of the tasks of the role include :
Assist with feeding, stock movement and lambing activities
Work on delivery of animal health programme (includes drenching, internal parasite control, vaccination and crutching)
Assist with weed control, pasture and crop establishment
Carry out fencing and general farm maintenance
Operate farm machinery and vehicles safely
Manage interactions with the public
About you
You'll bring a strong work ethic and your passion for the land and animals
Be committed to the completion of apprentice farm hand study requirements
Practical experience in stock handling and pasture management
Flexibility to work some weekend days / public holidays as rostered
Empathy for animal welfare and high standards of care
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Be physically fit for hands on work
NZ Restricted driving licence

Support to complete study requirements – this role requires completion of
NZ Certificate in Agriculture – Meat and Fibre (Level 3 / 4) within 3 years of commencement of the role
