Overview
As a Community Living Support | Lifestyle Coach, you’ll work alongside tāngata whaiora (the people we support) to help them live with greater independence and purpose. You’ll empower and support tāngata to set and reach their own goals in ways that work for them.
This is a practical, people-focused role requiring empathy, initiative, and patience, with real impact as you walk alongside tāngata to grow their confidence and independence.
What you'll be doing
- Helping tāngata develop everyday skills so they can live more independently, confidently, and connected to their community
- Supporting goal setting — from budgeting to catching the bus or building routines
- Encouraging participation in community life, including whānau visits, hobbies, and cultural activities
- Providing calm, practical support when challenges arise
- Keeping accurate notes and communicating clearly with your team
- Managing your time across multiple tāngata and adapting when plans change

Te Roopu Taurima is Aotearoa’s largest kaupapa Māori disability support provider. We support tāngata whaiora from all walks of life who live with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
With almost 400 kaimahi across Te Tai Tokerau (Northland), Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Waikato, and Ōtautahi (Christchurch), we provide 24 / 7 care through residential, vocational, respite, and mental health services.
