- ' As the Principal Analyst Regulatory Risk, you'll be a thought leader in applying Intelligence-led approaches to regulatory strategy.
The role is based in the Regulatory Performance, Risk and Insights team within Regulatory Performance and Insights (RPI).
RPI provides Hindsight, Insight, Foresight and Oversight (HIFO) to enable the effectiveness, efficiency, resilience and fairness of the whole land transport regulatory system.
You'll lead the development of analytical frameworks, Intelligence products, and forward-looking insights that inform regulatory priorities and system improvements.
Responsibilities will include :
Leading the design and delivery of high-quality Intelligence risk assessments and issue analysis across Waeture and the wider the organisation.Building strong collaborative relationships to support regulatory stewardship.Producing high-quality summary findings, recommendations, and detailed reports to support strategic decision-making by senior leaders, the Executive, and the Board.Providing expert advice to senior leaders, including the Director of Land Transport, to support Intelligence-led decision-making.This is a rare opportunity for an intelligence practitioner to combine their skillset with regulatory risk to establish and positively influence our Regulatory Risk framework.Find out more about the role .
We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $131,659 and $175,545 commensurate to skills and experience.
Ko koe tenei | About you'' To be successful in this role, you will bring :Experience in Intelligence-based threat, risk and issue identification and assessmentStrong experience building and advising on the use of risk-based regulatory practicesExceptional strategic advice skills, working alongside managers to mitigate riskExceptional thought leadership, with a track record of driving innovative ways of workingThe ability to build strong relationships and networks within a complex organisationA strong track record of delivery from your previous rolesA passion for growing others - mentoring and coaching team members, leading communities of practice, and fostering capability developmentThe following would also be an advantage :A relevant qualificationFormal intelligence training / experienceKnowledge of the land transport system and / or regulationIt is expected the holder of this role will be privy to classified information from time to time and understands the New Zealand governments classification system and how to maintain information in line with current policies and requirements.You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.
You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.The Regulatory Performance, Risk and Insights function ensures NZTA and the Director of Land Transport have a clear, evidence-based view of the land transport regulatory system's performance, risks, and outcomes.
Within this, the System Risk, Evidence and Insights team develops and integrates risk and evidence capabilities to support timely, targeted regulatory decisions aligned with strategic priorities.
They maintain system-wide visibility of regulatory risk by synthesising data into actionable insights that inform planning, prioritisation, and continuous improvement across internal operations and external delivery.
