OverviewJoin to apply for the Principal Advisor Regulatory Risk role at NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.We are seeking a thought leader in risk-based regulatory practices and processes, risk identification and assessment, and applying regulatory risk practices to inform improvements in line with our regulatory stewardship role.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of high-quality risk assessments and issue analysis across Regulatory and the wider organisation.Build strong collaborative relationships to support regulatory stewardship.Produce high-quality summary findings, recommendations, and detailed reports to support strategic decision-making by senior leaders, the Executive, and the Board.Provide expert advice to senior leaders, including the Director of Land Transport, to support intelligence-led decision-making.This is a rare opportunity for a risk-based practitioner to positively influence our Regulatory Risk framework.About YouTo Be Successful In This Role, You Will BringExperience in risk and issue identification and assessmentStrong experience building and advising on the use of risk-based regulatory practicesExceptional strategic advice skills, working alongside managers to mitigate riskExceptional thought leadership, with a track record of driving innovative ways of workingThe ability to build strong relationships and networks within a complex organisationA strong track record of delivery from your previous rolesA passion for growing others - mentoring and coaching team members, leading communities of practice, and fostering capability developmentThe Following Would Also Be An AdvantageA relevant qualificationKnowledge of the land transport system and / or regulationIt is expected the holder of this role will be privy to classified information from time to time and understands the New Zealand government's classification system and how to maintain information in line with current policies and requirements.You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.About UsThe Regulatory Performance, Risk and Insights function ensures NZTA and the Director of Land Transport have a clear, evidence-based view of the land transport regulatory system's performance, risks, and outcomes.
