Fifteen years of clinical research and over $30 million in development have produced a breakthrough extract from New Zealand hops (Amarasate) that’s already improving lives worldwide. We doubled revenue in 2024 and are on track to do it again in 2025. Now we need the operational and financial infrastructure to match our growth trajectory.

The role

As Chief Operating Officer, you’ll translate rapid growth into sustainable performance through robust systems, reliable supply chains, and the financial discipline needed to deliver on ambitious growth targets.

Reporting to the CEO and partnering with the Chief Customer & Marketing Officer, the COO is accountable for financial operations, systems infrastructure, and supplier relationships across NZ, the US, and future markets. You’ll need to stay close to the numbers while anticipating what’s next : building the infrastructure and disciplines that help turn rapid growth into predictable, profitable performance.

You’ll also serve as Calocurb’s operational risk manager, identifying vulnerabilities across supply, finance, compliance, and systems before they become problems, and ensuring the business has the contingencies in place to keep moving when disruptions occur. You’ll bring operational discipline that supports rather than slows momentum, building processes that enable speed, as well as systems that create clarity, not bureaucracy. Your success in the role will primarily be measured through the following :

• Improving COGS and GM% as volumes scale
• DIFOTIS across all markets
• Positive operating cash flow
• Forecast accuracy (financial and demand)
• Compliance with tax, regulatory, and legal obligations

What this can look like, day‑to‑day :

• Building financial models that give the business confidence to make fast, big decisions
• Translating ambitious growth targets into operational excellence across finance, supply, legal, and systems
• Fixing system bottlenecks slowing the team down
• Negotiating supply contracts across time zones, to protect margin and maintain DIFOT
• Preparing investor‑ready reporting that tells a coherent story about performance and trajectory
• Supporting a high‑growth team : leading by example through transparent reporting, clear accountability, and a can‑do approach.

What you’ll bring

• Approx. ten years in senior finance, operations, or commercial roles, with at least three of those at COO, CFO, or GM level in a high‑growth business
• Hands‑on fluency in financial management, supply chain, and systems improvement with in‑strategy, systems, and hands‑on execution
• Experience scaling operations through rapid change and international growth
• Positive collaboration : able to partner with science, brand, and growth teams around shared outcomes
• An entrepreneurial mindset : pragmatic, commercially sharp, and energised by the pace and ambiguity of a start‑up business.

This isn’t a corporate COO role where you’re managing layers of middle management. You’ll be contributing to strategy, working directly with the CEO and CCMO to prioritise investment and action, and helping decide where to place the next big bet.
