We’re looking for a senior leader who is passionate about making a difference, and who know how to ignite enthusiasm in others. Workwise leaders support employment consultants who are integrated in health and other environments, to operate at their very best, every day.

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm, based in Auckland. (We are open to discussion if an applicant is based outside the region.)

As General Manager, you’ll be based in Auckland with regular travel to our Hamilton service, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. You’ll provide inspirational leadership and management for the Workwise Auckland and Waikato teams, operating within the Northern and Midland | Te Manawa Taki health regions. As a key member of the Workwise senior leadership team, you’ll provide strategic input into the organisation at a national level and role model effective Te Tiriti practices with your teams.

You will foster and grow strategic relationships with key people and organisations in the sector as well as across the Wise Group, so that we can work together to improve employment outcomes for people as part of their recovery journey.

You will support and develop our regional team leaders, who in turn lead teams of employment consultants supporting people to live great lives through creating work connections. You will provide strong values-based leadership that ensures the highest quality service while nurturing and growing our leaders.

To maintain relationships with your team and key stakeholders, you’ll be required to travel regularly within your region, as well as nationally to connect with the senior leadership team.

You will focus on :

  • Leading a peak performing service to implement an evidence-based employment support approach (IPS)
  • Achieving contracted service performance and quality targets
  • Providing effective and creative coaching, and supporting the ongoing development of team leaders
  • Building and maintaining relationships and networks with employers, clinicians, communities and government agencies, ensuring sustainable employment connections to support people
  • Contribute to the strategic purpose and top challenges of Workwise
  • Creating new opportunities to grow our services
  • Using data and stories to support great outcomes for people.
  • With leadership experience in the mental health, disability, NGO or employment sectors, you’ll share our beliefs that hope matters, and that everyone has skills, talents and potential. You’ll be positive, energetic, organised and a great communicator, influencer and connector. You will be informed about inequity challenges for Māori and be an advocate for Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

    Lived experience is also valued.

    You’ll have :

  • An appropriate allied health qualification or higher qualification in health and wellbeing, rehabilitation, return to work or other relevant area
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership role and great people management skills
  • Strong relationship, negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving with a focus on ensuring service quality and implementation
  • Outcomes focused with a person-led approach to ensure positive social impact
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Contract, financial and budget management experience
  • Strong report writing skills and data analysis perspectives.
