Island Chef

We are hiring- Come work on an islandWe are currently looking for people to fill 2 positions at Castaways on Moreton Island.

Coming into summer we are looking for a Chef or cook / kitchenhand, also an All rounder to work in our cafe / store / hotel.Our Cook needs to prepare simple café style food for our café and display cabinet as well as stocking fresh produce to sell.

Must be willing to help serve and interact with customers.

We also do catering for groups, some weekends.Our All rounder would help in Castaways small licenced store / Café, Unit accommodation and glamping onsite, so duties include but are not limited front of house, kitchen duties, barista skills, stocking and receiving freight, housekeeping and general duties around our site on Moreton Island and helping out in other areas as required.

You will be interacting with customers (most of who are on holidays) and working with a small team of 6 to 10 others depending on time of year), so must be energetic, be independent, friendly and have a smile on your face!

A RSA or willing to get one is essential.

Hours can vary depending on season from 28hrs-38hrs per week.We are a small family business with a great team that get along well and have fun working together.

Our workload fluctuates depending on the time of year and it really spikes during school holidays.We are on a complete sand island 35kms off Brisbane only accessible via a 1.5hr ferry ride from Brisbane which runs several times a day but we have beautiful beaches and water, great fishing and snorkelling.

We can provide studio style accommodation on the Island for a small weekly fee with shared bathrooms or you can find your own off site.
