Our work is organised around three core services : Environmental Regulation and Protection; Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards; Public Transport.The RoleThis leadership role sits within the Rivers Section and is responsible for planning, development and delivery of capital and renewal projects that support flood protection, land drainage, and erosion control across Canterbury.
It is a new role reporting to the Chief Engineer.
You'll lead a team of technical experts, oversee investigations and design work, manage contractors, and ensure projects meet industry standards and community needs.
You'll also contribute to fluvial monitoring, gravel management, strategic planning and reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading infrastructure investigations and design projectsManaging budgets, contracts, and contractor performanceOverseeing fluvial monitoring and gravel strategy deliveryProviding technical advice and reporting to stakeholdersCoaching and developing a high-performing team of engineers and scientistsAbout You | ExperienceYou're an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in river or civil infrastructure and a passion for leading people and projects.
You bring strategic thinking, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset.
