Join the Ministry for Primary Industries as a Policy Analyst to develop impactful policy advice supporting New Zealand's primary sectors.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include :
Developing policy advice and contributing to legislation and regulation for primary sectors including aquaculture, fisheries, and forestry.
Writing briefings, responses to Parliamentary questions, and Official Information Act requests.
Collaborating across MPI and with other government agencies on diverse policy issues.
Building strong relationships with stakeholders to shape practical and effective policy.
Working within teams focused on Aquaculture Policy, Fisheries Policy, or Forestry Sector Policy based in Wellington.
About You
The company is looking for :
Early-career professionals, recent graduates or those with 1–2 years' experience in policy, planning, or related fields.
Educational background in public policy, environmental science, law, economics, or relevant disciplines.
Strong initiative, time management, and solution-focused approach.
Ability to develop and manage effective relationships.
Curiosity, motivation, eagerness to learn, and strong communication skills.
Analytical thinkers who enjoy solving problems.
Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability to change.
Interest in the primary sector, including environmental and climate issues.
Confidence in building relationships and working collaboratively.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range : $76,463 to $89,215 depending on skills and experience (General Salary Range F).
