Knorero mn te t´runa | About the Role
Our teams in the Commercial Performance division provide advice to Ministers on the Crown's ownership interest in approximately 50 Crown companies and entities, including some of the largest companies and financial institutions in New Zealand.
Our aim is to ensure that these entities achieve the Government's ownership purpose - whether sought outcomes or increased value - by operating efficiently and effectively within their intended scope and managing risks, to support the inter-generational well-being of New Zealanders.
We are at the interface of the commercial world and central government, and we look for talented people from a range of professional backgrounds to support us in our work.
We have two Analyst positions, based in Wellington, in our Crown Entities and SOE Performance teams - one is permanent, and the other is an 18-month fixed term contract backfilling for the previous incumbent whilst they are on secondment.
The Analyst role will be supporting our advice to responsible and shareholding Ministers on company and entity performance including
Engaging with stakeholders to build positive working relationships between the Treasury and Crown companies and entities
Applying analytical tools to improve insights into performance, industry dynamics and key drivers of value and risk
Providing timely, well analysed advice to Ministers, in particular the Minister for State Owned Enterprises and Minister of Finance, on opportunities, challenges and risks facing Crown companies and entities
Use your specific skillset and capabilities to support the team's activities and Treasury's wider objectives.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex problems in a relatable manner
The ability to influence and work with different stakeholders and experience in collaborating colleagues to support work programmes
Experience and practical knowledge of applying strategic, economic, and commercial analysis to provide strategic, policy or performance advice
An understanding of key public sector roles and functions and the Crown's arm's length governance arrangements.
