The Gallery's vision is to be the home of art for Auckland, its people and visitors to its internationally recognised award‑winning building. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of International art, and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and outreach activities.
An opportunity has arisen for a part‑time Curatorial Assistant to support the Head of Curatorial and Learning in the successful running of Auckland Art Gallery’s Curatorial department. The position will also support other curatorial staff on the delivery of the Gallery’s exhibitions, research and acquisitions programme in 2026.

Passionate about art and artists, you will have excellent administrative and organisational skills. You will be comfortable working in a support role to a senior executive and will thrive working in a dynamic, hard‑working and creative environment. Calm under pressure, you will be flexible, well‑organised and a great communicator. Strong relationship‑building skills are essential as you will work on team projects with a diverse range of people both within and outside of the organisation. You will take pride in demonstrating professional integrity and maintaining confidentiality.

This role comes with a fixed‑term, part‑time contract (24 hours per week until 10 Dec 2026).
You will work standard business hours, although you may be required to work on evenings or weekends on an occasional basis to support events.
