About this role
As a Strategic Programme Planning Manager within Watercare's Strategy and Planning team, you will lead the feasibility phases of large-scale, multi-year infrastructure programmes that are central to the Asset Management Plan (AMP) and long-term servicing strategies.
You will drive strategic alignment across complex project portfolios, ensure timely delivery of programme milestones, and enable Watercare to meet its statutory obligations and community commitments.
The role requires a high level of programme maturity, political acumen, and the ability to influence at executive and board levels, proactively managing risks, fostering innovation, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including iwi, local boards, and community groups.
Responsibilities
Lead feasibility phases for one or more large-scale, multi-year infrastructure programmes.
Drive strategic alignment across complex project portfolios and ensure timely delivery of programme milestones.
Manage programme risks, foster innovation, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure programmes are delivered with transparency, accountability, and excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
Extensive experience managing programmes valued over $100 million.
Demonstrated success in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and ability to work closely with C-suite and board members.
Proven track record of on-time delivery and action orientation in high-pressure contexts.
Experience in water / wastewater infrastructure or related utilities sectors is an advantage.
