OverviewTe Manahuna / Twizel Biodiversity Threats team is looking for a motivated field worker to join us over summer to help deliver possum control operations in the Ohau Forests.
This mahi is critical to protecting vulnerable native species such as pittosporum patulum and native beech mistletoes.
This is a full-time, 6-month fixed term or secondment role based in Twizel.ResponsibilitiesChecking, rebaiting, and maintaining possum traplines across the Huxley, Hopkins, Dobson, and Temple Valleys.Recording catch data and supporting monitoring systems.Supporting the wider Biodiversity Threats team with field delivery as required.At times you will be required to stay away overnight, this could be up to 3 days in the backcountry, often in remote and rugged terrain.Skills and experienceWe're looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for conservation.
If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you : Enjoys working outdoors in rugged, remote terrain.Strong physical fitness and practical field skills.Experience with trapping, pest control and GPS use.Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.Tech savvy with the ability to learn new systems.Full driver's licence.Desirable : Experience with 4WD.Current or expired first aid certificate.What's in it for you?
