OverviewThe Timaru District Council is seeking multiple Gardeners to join our newly created team.
These hands-on positions are responsible for the direct in-house maintenance of the Council's gardens, parks, landscapes, and other green spaces.
As a Gardener, you will be integral to ensuring the high-quality maintenance of our district's greenspaces.These opportunities are being offered for the first time in a generation.
It gives a unique opportunity for you to take pride in displaying the district's landscapes at their best.ResponsibilitiesMaintain parks, gardens, and greenspaces by mowing lawns, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, spraying, deadheading, and irrigating.Plant and care for bedding plants; monitor plant growth and health.Handle agrichemicals safely and operate powered gardening tools.Regularly maintain and service horticulture tools; stay updated on gardening techniques.Perform other horticultural tasks as required.QualificationsWe are looking for someone with a general understanding of horticulture and proven experience in a Gardener or related role.

Weekend work is expected on a roster basis.
