This is achieved by pro-actively working with patients, their whaanau and communities to enhance the patient's ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do; or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational therapy engagement.The Pou Haumanu Ngangahau (Occupational Therapist) is responsible for providing a patient and whaanau-centred, evidence-based approach to the assessment, management, interventions and treatment for patients, within a multi-disciplinary framework.Flexibility is key as this role also involves advocating for whaanau and working across diverse settings, including clinics, homes, and community spaces, to maximize health and well-being outcomes.This role is based in Taamaki Makaurau with occasional travel to the Waikato when required.

This is a part-time role from Monday to Thursday from 8 : 30am to 5pm.If this sounds like you and you think you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you!

ResponsibilitiesProvides comprehensive effective and timely assessments, with an equity lens to identify health needs / priorities and plans and establishes individualised treatment / intervention plans in partnership with stakeholders and whaanau.Delivers a high standard of care and leads clinical practice initiatives that enhance patient care.Identifies and creates opportunities to promote health literacy and the provision of culturally competent treatment processes to improve outcome of care.Enables culturally appropriate patient care ensuring the patient and whaanau voice is provided for and understands the diverse needs of Maaori.Practises in partnership with the patient, acknowledging whaanau perspectives and supports their participation in services.Promotes and integrates into practice, effective communication and evidence-based best practice models in a manner that the patient and their whaanau determines as culturally safe.Ensures all practices are in accordance with contractual and referrer requirements, with accepted professional standards of practice, ethical guidelines and relevant legislation.Identifies opportunities for Rongoaa (traditional Maaori medicine) to be an effective contributor to the patient's health and wellbeing.Participates, contributes, initiates and / or leads quality improvement and clinical governance activities.Contributes to annual planning process, including identifying gaps in service and contributing or leading work / projects that may result from the planning process.Takes professional responsibility for managing own clinical load with increasing complexity and be able to independently adapt and make decisions regarding treatment / intervention and identify where additional clinical support is required.Completes required documentation, including consent, treatment plans, goals, and daily data entry, in line with legal and organisational standards.Actively contributes to team meetings and case conferences to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.Ensures legislative requirements are met for the collection, use and storage of health and disability information.To be considered for this role ideally you will need to haveNew Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current practicing certificate.Meets Occupational Therapist Board competency requirements.Experience in a similar role would be an advantage or able to demonstrate an understanding of NZ Health especially in relation to Rangatahi, Mental Health and addictions services.Flexibility to travel as required.What we offerEAP servicesFirst aid trainingSupportive team environment and ongoing training provided.It is mandatory for you to have the followingNew Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current practicing certificateBe legally entitled to work in New Zealand / Aotearoa (Citizenship, Work Visa or NZ Residency)Preferred applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment checks.How to applyPlease fill out our application form first by following this link : "Quick Apply" and ensure that you attach a copy of your CV and Cover Letter.Please note : We appreciate all applications received; however, only those who meet the necessary qualifications and requirements for the position will be contacted for further consideration.
