Occupational Therapist

About the role

Work collaboratively with a varied caseload of students in the disability sector alongside therapists, teachers, teacher aides, and whanau. You will be assessing and providing treatments to young clients with a limited ability while empowering and encouraging their independence. This role is a meaningful opportunity to build positive relationships within your community.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with students aged 5 to 21 years with disabilities
• Identify needs and train clients for independence
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to formulate education pathways
• Conduct assessments and rehabilitation services in the community and school settings
• Provide client education, equipment recommendations, and general OT expertise

Skills and Experience

• Must be registered with the OT Board of New Zealand, and hold a current APC
• Hold a current full and clean driver's license with reliable transport
• Knowledge of ASD approaches, sensory processing, and hand function preferred
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with students, whanau, and stakeholders
