Ko te turanga mahi | About the role
A Kaiwhakapumau supports the day-to-day management of the supported accommodation for tane, supporting tane who have been released from prison or are living in the community.
Responsibilities include :
Build and maintain healthy relationships with tane
Accompany tane to various activities
Plan activities / programmes in line with their transition plan
Support tane in reaching their Mauriora aspirations
Identify risks, escalate and propose appropriate action
This role is managed through rostered shifts covering 24 / 7.
Availability to complete overnight shifts and weekends is important.
About the team
Based within Te Whare Whakaruruhau o Raumanuka in Naenae, the team are passionate about lifting and supporting tane to achieve their moemoea.
We are lived practitioners of te ao Maori and are guided by the teachings of our ancestors and the tikanga and kawa of Ngati Toa Rangatira and Te Ati Awa.
We use our Maori worldview to sustain the mana and integrity of our kaupapa through wananga.
We work hard to get comfortable so we can learn from experiences and be better prepared when we get uncomfortable again.
About you
You'll bring high-level experience in supporting people facing challenges and can demonstrate a Kaupapa Maori approach to your mahi.
You should be able to work in a warm and engaging manner while maintaining boundaries and professionalism.
A passion for our mahi and the people we serve is essential.
