Waitoki is a small school with a big heart that makes the most of its ruralness and the learning opportunities that it provides. Our vision is to be an inclusive school community that nurtures adaptive, creative, curious, life-long learners who achieve their best through perseverance and collaboration. We are proud of and cherish our rural character, idyllic location and family orientated atmosphere. We hold a strong set of school GOAT values of G rit, O wnership, A roha, and T eamwork, which are infused through everything we do and help to foster good social skills including honesty, politeness and respect.
We are looking for a highly experienced, enthusiastic, structured literacy acceleration (SLA) teacher to join our team of passionate and dedicated educators. This 0.64 FTE fixed term teaching position will be supporting groups of Y0 - Y6 students, 5 mornings per week. A passion for teaching structured literacy, knowledge of DIBELS and experience teaching Liz Kane’s ‘Little Learners Love Literacy’ and ‘The Code’ are essential.
We seek applications from experienced structured literacy acceleration (SLA) teachers who have a good understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and the ability to teach tamariki across the Y0–6 level. Applicants must be able to work collaboratively, demonstrate a willingness to be fully involved in the life of our school and connect with our supportive community. As we are a small rural school, all of our staff members wear multiple hats, so most of all you will need to be flexible, adaptable, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to muck in.
If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you.
How to apply
Please send your cover letter, CV outlining your structured literacy accelerate (SLA) teaching experience and current NZ practising certificate.
