Caroline Freeman College is home to 300 mostly first-year undergraduate students and provides a caring collegiate experience with a strong emphasis on fostering community, wellbeing and achievement.
The Tautiaki-Kaiawhina (Assistant Warden) plays a central role in sharing the Caroline Freeman spirit of manaakitanga to everyone.

The role | Te mahi
Tautiaki-Kaiawhina are key members of the College pastoral and welfare team.
With a focus on wellbeing / oraka, they provide culturally appropriate opportunities for residents to experience cultural, sporting, academic and personal development in a positive college environment.

We are looking for a future leader who is resilient and capable of handling (sometimes) difficult and complex situations.
Our ideal candidate will have :
Experience working with young adults in a leadership capacity.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in emergency or crisis situations.
Experience in engaging students and managing a variety of safe and fun student focused events and activities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to achieve a range of tasks under competing demands, within agreed timeframes.
Experience in the tertiary sector would be a distinct advantage.
This exciting role will suit people from varied backgrounds who are passionate about working with young adults.
Candidates with knowledge and appreciation of cultural issues and knowledge of Tikanga Maori and / or knowledge in providing positive opportunities for Tauira Maori, will be especially welcome.

The position is live-in and requires a high level of commitment, including being rostered on-call.
Accommodation is provided within the College and the total remuneration package for this position includes full compensation for all accommodation costs.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position based in Otepoti, Dunedin.
The appointment range is $69,931 to $74,609 per annum.
Top of the range is $80,285.
From time to time, you may be deployed to different colleges to suit the needs of the Division.
This may include leave coverage, conference support, assistance with summer business such as "Hands on Otago", Summer School, etc.
The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Children's Act
