We're looking for an experienced people-focused Business Analyst to join our Business Process Management team.
This fixed-term role (through to February
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on understanding how people work, identifying pain points, and co-designing practical improvements.
You'll work closely with teams to clarify needs, simplify processes where needed, and improve the experience for those who use them.
You'll be part of a collaborative team curious, people-focused, and always looking to improve.
Your work will help shape how business needs are understood and addressed, with a strong focus on early-stage analysis and process clarity.
What you'll do :
Work with teams to understand how they work and where things could be better.
Help simplify and improve core processes and supporting policies.
Support continuous improvement by maintaining and evolving process content.
Provide business analysis support for small initiatives, especially where dedicated project support isn't available.
Champion process thinking and user-focused design across the Ministry.

The salary range for this role is $106,973 to $125,850 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a seasoned Business Analyst who brings a mix of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
You'll be confident working independently, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and skilled at building strong relationships across the organisation.
You will ideally have :
Proven experience in business analysis and business process management.
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in early-stage scoping and needs clarification
Familiarity with maintaining and improving business process content and supporting documentation
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti, Te Reo Maori and Maori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
