About our team | Mō te tīma

The Educational Assessment Research Unit (EARU) is located within the College of Education at the University of Otago. It is comprised of a dedicated team of researchers, technical and professional staff, whose primary purpose is to undertake the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study - a large‑scale assessment study that monitors trends in student achievement. The study is a collaboration between the University of Otago and the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, conducted on contract to the Ministry of Education.

The role | Te mahi

This role is an opportunity to apply your hands‑on logistics and records management experience, working across a busy and varied programme of activities for the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study.

Working with a dynamic and collegial team of research, technical and operational staff, you’ll ensure that resources and equipment utilised for data gathering in schools are prepared, maintained, dispatched (nationwide), collated and made available for processing to meet the study’s deadlines.

Your work will also include digital processing of research data and the systematic storage and management of physical and digital records.

Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

Ideally, you’ll have experience, in a hands‑on capacity, in supporting the supply, storage, maintenance and dispatch of items, including equipment. Experience of working with paper and electronic records, and associated information management systems is also required.

We’re looking for a cooperative team member, with the following capabilities :

• The ability to work to strict deadlines, planning and managing tasks accordingly.
• A strong and responsive customer focus, with the ability to troubleshoot logistical requirements as they arise.
• Self‑motivation and the ability to work autonomously.
• A systematic and organised approach to work, including accurate record‑keeping.
• Sound IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

This is a permanent (research‑funded), full‑time (37.5 hours per week) position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Applications from candidates seeking part‑time hours will also be considered.

The appointment range for this role is $59,494 to $63,000 per annum. Top of the range is $68,847.
