Our Otago School of Pharmacy is the oldest in the country and prides itself on achieving excellence in pharmaceutical care. We aim for excellence in research and research informed teaching in pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy and social pharmacy. Pharmacists play an important part in the health workforce in providing access to medicines, optimising use of medicines and ensuring quality of medicines is consistently high.

The role | Te mahi

We are seeking an experienced scientist to provide research and administrative assistance for a project developing new medicines.

Objectives

  • Perform a range of techniques which could include simple chemical synthesis, analytics (e.g. HPLC), formulation, cell culture (bacteria or mammalian cell lines) and animal studies.
  • Provide advice and support in designated techniques to research staff and students working on similar projects.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of designated laboratory equipment and oversight of designated laboratories.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports of research findings.

  • BSc or equivalent Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry or in Biomedical Sciences.
  • Laboratory skills and research experience.

    This is a full-time (1 FTE), fixed term position for one year based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin ideally starting in February 2026. The appointment range for this role is $62,496 to $84,125 per annum.
