About the Role

Our registered nurses provide liaison and consultation to and betweenCourts, Prisons, Justice Departments, Mental Health, Police, Government andCommunity Agencies on mental health and addiction matters and the management ofassociated problems within the identified agency.

The nurse utilises clinical and medical-legal knowledge and skills toprovide a quality rapid assessment of those persons identified as having or whomay have a mental health and addiction problem.

About theTeam / Service Location

Theregional arm of Te Korowai-Whāriki includes the Central Regional ForensicMental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental HealthServices and the Justice System and works within the following settings 'prisons, courts, community, and inpatient.The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendantscharges with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness. Weare based in Porirua, Wellington.

About you

Weare looking for someone who is able to demonstrate professional, legal andethical responsibilities and cultural safety. These include being able todemonstrate knowledge and judgement and being accountable for own actions anddecisions, while promoting an environment that maximises patients' safety,independence, quality of life and health.

Theideal candidate will be able to demonstrate interpersonal and therapeuticcommunication with clients, other nursing staff and inter-professionalcommunication and documentation. A big part of this role is client assessmentand managing client care, which is responsive to clients' needs, and which issupported by nursing knowledge and evidence based research.

• RegisteredNurses must have a pre-registration or post registration qualification in MHnursing (or ID) to work in MHAIDS
• FullNZ Driver's Licence
