About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is responsible for coordinating the day to day management of staff and resources within the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) and the Child Health Outreach Specialists team (CHOS).

In conjunction with the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, the CNM will provide professional nursing leadership and support, creating an environment in which clinical skills in nursing and high standards of nursing care are developed and maintained to provide quality care for neonates and their families / whanau.

The aim will be to improve client care outcomes through the continual quality improvement of nursing and clinical service delivery

About the Team / Service / Location

The SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) at Lakes DHB is a 10-bed, level two neonatal unit that provides care for sick and / or preterm infants greater than 32 weeks gestation.

The Children's Outreach Nursing Service care for children with acute and chronic illnesses in their home within the Lakes area.

The service consists of a team of experienced children's nurses who are available 5 days a week 8.30am – 4.30pm

About you

You are an experienced neonatal nurse with advanced clinical skills and a deep commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and family-centered care to newborns and their whanau.

You bring strong leadership capabilities and thrive in a collaborative environment where excellence, empathy, and clinical safety are key.

With a proven ability to support, guide, and inspire nursing teams, you foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Your calm, organised approach allows you to manage the demands of a busy neonatal unit while remaining focused on staff wellbeing, equity of care, and the best outcomes for our most vulnerable patients.

Qualifications :

Master's Degree or equivalent completed or in progress.

RN / RGON, RCpN with current practising certificate.

Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent completed.

Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in clinical area.
