The Duty Nurse Manager (DNM) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that hospital wards and departments operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently over a 24-hour period - especially during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays when senior leadership may not be present.

Over a 24 hour period you will provide : -Leadership : Providing visible, calm, and confident leadership across the hospital.Decision-Making : Balancing clinical needs with operational realities.Problem Solving : Quick thinking in emergencies or conflict situations.Support : Advocating for staff well-being and patient safety.Communication : Liaising between departments and levels of seniority.Managing staff shortages and patient overloadEmotional strain of dealing with critical incidentsNo typical day - priorities can shift in minutesRewardsMaking real-time decisions that impact patient outcomesSupporting and mentoring junior staffKeeping the hospital functioning under pressureAbout the Team / Service LocationThe DNM team are part of the Integrated Operation Centre ( IOC) and are responsible for the effective operational management of the 24 hours / 7 days hospital service delivery at both Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital.
