We are a tight-knit team of innovative thinkers solving complex challenges across geography, cartography, and automation.
You will contribute to both day-to-day geospatial tasks and long-term strategic projects that support pest control and environmental monitoring across NWR managed covenants.
Working with our Manutaki, you will provide essential geospatial support to teams involved in : Threatened species protectionEcosystem restorationAnimal and plant pest control programmesThe role focuses on : Develop and maintain GIS solutions using the ESRI software suite, including web maps, dashboards, and field data collection toolsProvide geospatial analysis and mapping support for pest control, ecological monitoring, and conservation projects across NWR covenantsManage spatial datasets and databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and effective integration with operational workflowsCollaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to understand spatial needs, provide technical support, and deliver user-friendly GIS tools and resourcesQualifications and experienceWe're looking for someone with a solid GIS foundation and practical experience with digital tools and systems that support conservation and land management.
Ideally you will have : Minimum of 5 years' work experience in GISBachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Planning, IT, Engineering, or a closely related fieldExperience with the ESRI software stack (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Collector, Survey123)Knowledge of GPS devices and GPX data for geospatial analysisExperience in data conversion, database management, GIS digitisation and analysisExperience developing, deploying, administering, and maintaining web-based GIS applications and solutionsDigital development skills and experience with FMEStrong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindsetAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; detail-oriented with problem-solving and organisational abilitiesContribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement of spatial processesNew Zealand full driver's licenceWhat's in it for youDOC places importance on developing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture.
