He angituutanga : The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Regulatory Applications Officer to support the effective delivery of regulatory services.
In this role, you will assist the Team Manager in coordinating daily operations, mentoring staff, and leading onboarding.
You'll help build team capability, manage escalated issues, and step in as Acting Manager when required.
A key part of your role will be maintaining quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with legislation, and keeping procedural documentation up to date.
You'll also contribute to strategic projects, support the implementation of legislative reforms, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be responsible for delivering excellent customer service and managing enquiries across shared inboxes.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring experience in regulatory services or a similar environment, strong leadership and coaching skills, and a solid understanding of relevant legislation.
A detail-oriented and proactive approach, combined with a commitment to quality and service excellence, will be key to your success.

Five+ years' experience in administration.
Three+ years' experience leadership experience.
Two+ years' experience in a customer facing role.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft 365 skills.
Experience with Hamilton City Council systems or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Understanding of Building Act
Understanding of how to read building plans and supporting documentation.
You will hold or be working towards New Zealand Certificate in Building Regulatory Environment Level 4.

What's the salary?
The salary range is $78,000 - $92,000 dependent on skills and experience.
