We are looking for a Personal Lines Underwriter to join our Onesurance team.
Onesurance is underwritten by IAG New Zealand Ltd and Vero New Zealand Ltd and placed through Monument Insurance (NZ) Ltd.
Monument Insurance is a related company of Gallagher and acts as an underwriting agent on behalf of IAG and Vero.The purpose of this role is to effectively manage, underwrite, and drive the growth of Personal Lines business for Gallagher as part of the broader Agency Team.
This position ensures that all risks are assessed and underwritten in line with our acceptance criteria and delegated authority limits, guaranteeing that our clients have the appropriate coverage to financially withstand any insurable event.ResponsibilitiesAccept and process new and renewal business.Respond to personal lines business enquiries within delegated authority.Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and conforms to company and underwriting guidelines.Provide pricing and underwriting terms and conditions for new business, renewals and endorsements within Agency limits and delegated authority.Conduct audit reviews.
Highlight areas for improvement and any corrective action that might be required.
Liaise with the Senior Personal Lines Underwriter as required.Assist the Senior Personal Lines Underwriter with any issues or other work matters as and when required.Become conversant with the agreed Claims Charter and ensure a full understanding of policy wordings and claims principles and practices as these pertain to the underwriting process.Develop, enact and maintain high quality professional business relationships with our brokers by virtue of positively advocating for the Agency, its products and services.Develop and grow knowledge of the wider insurance industry; rely on broker relationships, communication, and service quality to deliver exceptional solutions and customer-focused service.Effectively and positively contribute to the achievement of the Agency annual Business Plan.Assist in the implementation and development of underwriting standards.
Provide training where required, and conduct underwriting audits to ensure standards are maintained.Skills and Experience2-3 years underwriting experience in Personal Lines insurance, Assistant Underwriter or equivalent levelA tertiary qualification in Commerce, Financial Services, Insurance or NZQA / Insurance Industry recognised qualifications would be preferred.Proven ability to build and maintain positive, constructive and honest relationships internally and with other organisationsGood level of understanding of Risk Profiles and proven knowledge of risk management principlesExceptional attention to detail and accuracyAbility to articulate and communicate concisely and effectivelyProven ability to work autonomously, with high levels of motivationThe ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and meet agreed deadlinesA high level of competence in the Microsoft suite productsHigh level of resilienceWhy Join Gallagher?
