OverviewChristchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora is seeking a passionate and positive head of the Maori department.
This is a full-time permanent position.
Applicants must be able to teach te reo Maori to our senior students and understand the requirements of NCEA.
The successful applicant will also be confident in upholding tikanga Maori.The HoD Maori will bring extensive life experience and expertise in supporting Maori akonga, whanau, iwi, and communities.
This role incorporates the Kaiairahi Maori responsibilities needed to support Maori akonga and whanau, including working alongside leaders of learning and the pastoral team to enhance our care and uphold high expectations for all Maori akonga.
They will lead and advise on culturally responsive organisational practice, which supports Maori to succeed as Maori.ResponsibilitiesLead and advise on culturally responsive organisational practice to support Maori akonga, whanau, iwi, and communities.Collaborate with leaders of learning and the pastoral team to enhance care and uphold high expectations for Maori akonga.Foster a relational and responsive culture, shaping a future-focused curriculum.Promote collaborative teamwork and reflective practice within the Maori department.Contribute to school-wide co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and events.Qualifications and attributesMust be a Certificated teacher capable of teaching te reo Maori to senior students and understand the requirements of NCEA.Ability to uphold tikanga Maori and demonstrate leadership in culturally responsive practice.Willingness to engage with whanau, iwi, and communities and support Maori akonga.Additional informationRole : 2MU + 1MMA and 6 hours release time per fortnight.Location : Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora, Christchurch.Start date : 28 January
