Te whiwhinga mahi - Our opportunity
We\'re seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Advisor - Risk, based in Auckland or Wellington, to join our integrated team responsible for delivering risk management, assurance, integrity and privacy support across the organisation.
This is a key role within our Legal and Risk Directorate, reporting to the Manager Risk and Assurance.
As Principal Advisor - Risk you\'ll play a key role in driving enterprise level risk management across the organisation, support the Board and senior leadership to set and embed our risk appetite, and identify and manage organisational risks.
You\'ll lead organisation enterprise risk management activity, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practice.
As a trusted advisor, you\'ll provide expert guidance on complex risk matters, influence decision-making, and help lift risk maturity across the organisation.
You\'ll support the Manager - Risk and Assurance in leading the team, providing people leadership when needed along with contributing to a collaborative and high-performing environment.
You\'ll also work closely with the Board and senior leaders to define risk appetite and strengthen the identification and management of strategic risks.
Nga Pumanawatanga Ou - What You Will Bring
Extensive experience in enterprise risk management with experience in a large, complex organisation
Proven leadership in shaping and embedding enterprise-wide risk strategy and frameworks
In-depth understanding of public sector governance, compliance and accountability
Strong understanding of ISO
Strong ability to influence senior leaders, governance bodies while driving strategic outcomes
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and advisory capabilities
Track record of leading innovation and continuous improvement in risk practices
Demonstrated people leadership, including mentoring, coaching and team development
Trusted support to the Manager Risk and Assurance, contributing to team leadership, strategic direction and organisational risk maturity
