Manager Risk & Assurance

Overview

A fixed term opportunity for a Risk & Assurance Manager through to June 30th 2026, with an organisation that is invested in the value that risk and assurance offers.

This role is suited to a risk and assurance professional who has a proven ability to drive engagement and understanding of risk management, embed the enterprise risk management framework into the organisation, manage a co-sourced assurance arrangement, and work both at the strategic level while being hands on when needed.

To be successful in this role, you will have hands-on experience across both risk management and internal audit and will have experience building relationships and lifting awareness with the executive leadership team and across diverse business units.

Experience working in the Big 4 would be advantageous.

You will be responsible for :

Leading the implementation of an enterprise risk management programme aligned with best practices.

Oversee a risk-based internal audit programme, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

Manage co-sourced assurance arrangements, working collaboratively with external partners.

Develop and execute strategies to enhance organisational resilience, including readiness, response, and recovery planning.

Provide expert advice to senior leaders and governance groups on risk, assurance, and compliance matters.

Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Audit and Risk Committee members and external auditors.

You will have :

A proven track record in enterprise risk management and assurance, ideally gained in a Big 4 consulting environment or similar.

Experience managing co-sourced or outsourced assurance arrangements.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority.

Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively at senior levels.

A strategic mindset coupled with hands-on delivery capability.

This role will be appointed as soon as a suitable candidate is found and the successful candidate must have the right to work in New Zealand.
