Help shape software that gets medicines to 400 million people around the world
We're the mSupply Foundation.
Somehow we've ended up being the stewards of a suite of software products that is by far the most widely used for medicine supply chain management in 42 countries in the low / middle income world.
We're on the journey of building a new open source version of our software.
It's amazing how far we've got.
It's amazing how far we have to go.
We're looking for a Product Manager to lead that vision.
This is your chance to shape the direction of critical infrastructure that helps get medicines to people who need them.
You'll work with talented developers, experienced field teams across multiple countries, and international health partners - all united by the mission of ensuring everyone has access to the medicines they need.
The Role
You'll lead product direction and strategy for our open-source platform.
This means :
Product Leadership & Strategy
Own the product vision and roadmap, balancing best practice with the real-world needs of health systems in low / middle-income countries
Make strategic prioritization decisions that incorporate developer capacity, field team feedback, government requirements, and donor expectations.
Think deeply about what "good" looks like for our users (who work in challenging contexts with patchy internet and limited resources) and ensure our product enables that
Stakeholder Relationships
Work closely with our project managers who represent our end users and government partners across different countries.
They're your window into what's actually needed in the field
Facilitate conversations between development teams and stakeholders to translate real-world problems into solutions
Engage with stakeholders at all levels to understand emerging needs and opportunities
Gather and synthesize user research and translate it into clear product requirements
Mentoring & Team Development
Lead and mentor our existing Product Manager (who has strong domain knowledge) in product practices
Foster a collaborative product culture that includes technical teams and field teams
Help both teams understand each other's constraints so they work together effectively and healthily
Deliver Software
Work with our development team leads to scope work, manage technical trade-offs, and deliver on commitments
Ensure features are well-designed, tested, and solve the problems they're meant to
Monitor user adoption and impact in the field
Who We're Looking For
Experience & Track Record
Proven experience as a Product Owner or a similar product leadership role, ideally in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
Demonstrated ability to lead product strategy and make tough prioritisation calls
Experience mentoring other product or business professionals
Track record of shipping products that actually solved real problems for real users
Mindset & Skills
You're genuinely motivated by our mission – helping ensure access to medicines in low / middle-income countries.
You have strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical settings.
You explain tradeoffs clearly to developers, field teams, and partners.
You ask the questions our users would ask, and stay focused on solving their problems, not just shipping features.
You're comfortable with change.
Priorities do shift and you need to assess and adjust.
You have a collaborative leadership style, bringing people along with you.
You're pragmatic.
You know when to aim for perfection and when to ship something good enough.
Product Expertise
Experience gathering and synthesizing user research
Experience working with distributed teams or in remote-first environments
Understanding of the technical landscape : you don't need to code, but you need to understand systems architecture, API design, and the constraints developers work within
Nice to Have
Experience in healthcare, public health, or international development
Experience working across multiple languages or cultural contexts
Experience with supply chain, logistics, or operations software
Experience working with government or non-profit stakeholders
About Us
We're a small, tight-knit team united by purpose.
We work hard, but we also value wellbeing and supporting each other to grow.
You'll get genuine mentorship and development opportunities.
We're based in Auckland, and we need you to be too.
This is a two-year fixed-term contract aligned with our current project timeline.
That said, we have a 20-year track record of retaining staff, and we invest in long-term development and training.
We plan and train for continuity and growth.
We know that traditionally underrepresented groups (including women, people from minority backgrounds, and others) often don't apply unless they meet nearly all the qualifications listed.
If you're genuinely excited about this role and share our mission, we encourage you to apply even if you don't tick every box.
We're looking for people who can grow into this role and bring fresh perspectives.
We're committed to offering competitive, equitable compensation.
Interested?
We'd love to hear from you.
