OverviewWe are seeking an experienced policy professional to lead a team focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policy.
This is a secondment / fixed-term opportunity to July 2027.
Reporting to the Director, AML Policy in the Criminal Justice Unit, you will lead one of two AML-focused policy teams.The Criminal Justice Unit has a broad focus on criminal justice and criminal law developments, both internationally and domestically.
The unit focuses on the drivers of crime and reducing offending behaviour, drawing in social policy and justice objectives and focus areas.
The Ministry of Justice plays a leading role in the AML / CFT system, including administering the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML / CFT) Act 2009.
We deliver legislative changes, monitor the system, lead cross-system coordination, governance and stewardship, and lead international engagement.
This is an exciting time to contribute to our AML work, as New Zealand's approach is undergoing significant system-level change.
Our programme is broad, complex, and fast-paced.We work closely with a range of stakeholders, including the Department of Internal Affairs, Police, the banking and financial sectors, and other industry players.
