This team sits within the Commerce, Consumer and Business (CCB) branch of the Building Resources and Markets business group.MBIE's CCB branch is the Government's lead advisor on the commercial environment in which all New Zealand businesses and consumers operate.
We look after the laws and institutions that underpin how businesses and consumers interact with each other including : competition, fair trading and consumer guarantees, financial conduct, corporate governance and intellectual property.The Corporate Governance and Intellectual Property Policy team is responsible for the corporate governance regulatory system, which governs the 'lifecycle' of companies and other entities.
We also advise the Government on intellectual property policy matters including trademarks, geographical indications and copyright.We have a great culture and team that work collaboratively to get things done.
We put a lot of focus on talking to our stakeholders, and our operational colleagues.Skills and Experience RequiredFor the role, ideally you will : Have a good base of experience in public policy as a Policy Advisor or transferrable skills from an advisory, legal or similar roleBe a logical thinker, problem solver, and have a healthy level of curiosityBring knowledge of policy development disciplines and processesEnjoy working on tricky problems, generating ideas and coming up with solutionsHave or want to improve your cultural capability and knowledge of te ao Maori, te reo Maori and how Te Tiriti o Waitangi informs our workHave the ability to build relationships with others and work collaborativelyHave the ability to work through ambiguity and deliver resultsCome join us and make a difference to New Zealanders.Me pehea te tono - How to ApplyClick here to view a position description.
