National Technical Sales Manager – Renewables

We are seeking a strategic and technically astute solar sales leader with proven experience in the renewable energy space to drive our renewables strategy and growth. As National Technical Sales Manager of Renewables, you will report to the GM of Sales and be responsible for delivering consistent, profitable solar sales growth across our nationwide network of branches. You will be directly providing first and second level technical and design support to contractors, while building strategic relationships with suppliers, contractors and customers.

We are in a new exciting phase of development with new management and a hunger to increase our presence in this field. This role requires someone with both technical expertise and commercial acumen, comfortable presenting and influencing at a high level. This is a high impact role with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

About the Role

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer accounts, including regular travel for in-person meetings to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Provide high-level technical guidance to customers, including system fault finding and commissioning
  • Ability to do complex system design with contractors and end users
  • Support category planning and product selection to drive growth
  • Train internal and external customers as well as branch network
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and identify sales growth opportunities
  • Investigate new suppliers and innovations to ensure we are offering the best solutions to our customers at optimal margins
  • Work closely with the GM Sales to identify and define how Ideal can differentiate and further win in the renewables market
  • Partner with the Marketing, Procurement, and branch teams on Renewable products, innovations, sourcing, training, and promotions of new developments
  • Drive growth in Renewables sales and gross margin through new and existing customers
  • Develop and execute the Renewables sales strategy across our network, tailored to market demand and business priorities.
  • Lead and coordinate tender processes for large scale Renewable Energy commercial projects across the nation
  • Stay up to date on renewable product and industry developments to continuously refine our strategy and market strategy accordingly

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a seasoned solar sales role, ideally with a hands-on background as an installer in the solar and renewables space.
  • Proven track record of driving commercial results, growing sales, and building customer relationships; ideally in the trade space.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • A practicing licence and the new Mains Parallel Generation Systems Endorsement on your electrical registration is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a multi-site or branch-based business model preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset focused on thinking “outside the box” to drive profitable growth and service the customer in the best way possible.
