He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role
The Youth Development Coach role would suit a high energy, self-motivated and compassionate individual who is interested in taking responsibility for coordinating and delivering a youth service program to assist in supporting rangatahi.
The programme focuses on intensive one-on-one mentoring, working with each rangatahi to offer tailored supports through an individualised development plan. Your role will also involve :
- collaboration and getting involved in community development
- planning, evaluation, and assessment
- relationship building
- engaging young people with education, training, work-based learning and employment opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal sensitively with whanau and work collaboratively with management, colleagues, government, and other professionals.
- Solutions-focused problem-solving skills and a calm ability to maintain a high standard of work under pressure.
- Strong administration and customer service skills.
- Clean, current & full NZ driver’s license and a willingness to travel.
- Ability to work proactively within a team and independently.
- Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori.
- Experience in working effectively with diverse range of youth, including Māori, Pacific and others.
- Experience within a large organisation that works to provide wraparound supports for the community.
