The Student Support and Engagement function delivers services that help students overcome personal barriers to success and to maximise their time at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences is looking for a Student Support Adviser to take ownership of a rural portfolio.
The purpose of the Student Support Adviser role is to work directly with students to identify and respond to their support needs in order to improve their experience and their likelihood of success at University. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Universitys student retention and success objectives.
Students from clinical programmes have the opportunity for placements throughout the North Island including remote sites in Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki. This role will provide support for students on placement in these locations and support our rural and regional cohort settle into life on the Grafton Campus.
Key Accountabilities
This is a part-time, hours per week role on an 18-month contract. The salary range for this role is $58,300 - $72,700 per annum (pro-rata) depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will be a confident problem solver and solution finder. You will be able to understand what a student needs and have the energy and focus to locate the right contact, department or guidance material that will help them do what they have set out to do.
You will do this by being available for meetings in person and via video calls, and by being active and responsive to your emails and calls. We are searching for someone who is adaptable and confident as this role has a lot of variety but requires attention to detail and the ability to plan and execute quickly and effectively.
Your strong interpersonal and communication skills, outstanding organisational abilities, and your friendly and engaging manner will be a key factor in your success in this role.
You will have a strong knowledge of the rural and regional context of Aotearoa and be willing to visit rural sites across the north island on occasion.
