To support us in our efforts we are looking for a Community Engagement Adviser who will provide community engagement and consultation support to our Infrastructure Departments and other operational areas of Whangarei District Council.

Additionally, they will connect people with Whangarei District Council, helping to ensure Council projects and planning effectively meet the needs of our community.Working from our centrally located, state of the art, civic facility our ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing engagement, consultation, and communications programmes and have the ability to develop effective relationships with hapu, community and stakeholder groups.To be successful in securing this highly sought after role, you'll also need to demonstrate : A tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences, or public policy or IAP2 Certificate of Engagement.Knowledge (or ability to develop knowledge) of LGOIMA, Local Government Act and other relevant legislation.Ability to effectively facilitate and mediate between the Council and the community.Experience of managing public consultation and engagement processes.Experience in facilitating conversations with communities across a broad demographic.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong organisational and project management skills.If you have any questions, please feel free to contact People and Capability team on : (09) 430 4200 or 0800 932 463.Find out about what we do as a Council, and how you can bring your energy, your culture, your skills and experience, your dreams to create your best life.Live and PlayThere are many great reasons to be a part of Whangarei District Council.
