Te Tari Pureke – Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand's Firearms Regulator.
Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.
To achieve this, Te Tari Pureke delivers four core functions : effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and lawful use of firearms.

About the role
This role is responsible for providing advice and guidance on H&S issues in Te Tari Pureke – Firearms Safety Authority to ensure our people can Be Safe & Feel Safe.
The H&S Advisor is a key partner enabling NZ Police to identify and manage risks and provide support to local leaders on H&S issues.
Please note this is a 0.5 part time position.
Creating partnerships and working collaboratively to understand hazards in the work area and enabling leaders to eliminate or minimise risk
Building and maintaining positive relationships across a variety of stakeholders both internal and external
Promoting organisational consistency and excellence in H&S systems and policies in line with national guidelines
Supporting and enabling our people to continuously improve H&S performance and reduce risk
Supporting the Critical Risk Verification Programme for safer outcomes

We as the firearms regulator, collaborate closely with both the Ministry of Justice and NZ Police.
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for policy advice and system oversight and NZ Police is responsible for law enforcement function.
Together we seek to continuously improve our approach across the firearms regulatory environment.

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $87,306 (pro-rata 0.5 FTE).
